More than just a 'Jummah Mubarak' message: Anatomy of a day from ghusl to prayer, sermon to Surah Al-Kahf.
Performing ghusl ablution before going to Friday prayer is a sunnah strongly recommended by our Prophet. This is not just physical cleanliness, but casting off the fatigue and dirt of the week. Wearing the best clothes and applying good scent is an expression of respect for Allah's house and the congregation there. Mixing into the rows smelling of sweat, with work clothes (should be changed if possible), disturbs angels and people. A Muslim is someone who beautifies the environment they enter on Friday with their scent and light.
In the hadith, it is heralded that the one who goes to Friday prayer early receives a reward like sacrificing a camel, the one who goes later like a cow, then a sheep, and the one who goes last (when the imam ascends the pulpit) like giving an egg as charity. When the sermon begins, angels close their books and start listening to the sermon. Therefore, taking your place in the mosque before the adhan is recited, before the imam ascends the minbar, reading Surah Al-Kahf and entering the spiritual atmosphere is essential to fully benefit from the grace of Friday. A Friday caught running at the last minute is not the same as a Friday waited for in awe.
"You woke up with that notification sound on your phone: 'Have a blessed Friday'. A nice reminder, but is Friday just a messaging traffic? Or is that magnificent day, which our Prophet called 'The best day on which the sun has risen', where angels wait at mosque doors and write down those who enter, being sacrificed to the routine of our lives? Come, let's stop Friday from being just a lunch break of a 'work day' and turn it into the weekly festival of our soul."
Friday is the weekly congress of the Muslim. Clean clothes worn that day, scents applied, nails cut; all are preparations for appearing before Allah. Even 'being silent' while listening to the imam in the sermon is worship. And that secret hour... To catch that 'hour of response' when prayers are not rejected on Friday, one must weave the day with prayer. This Friday, be at the mosque not only physically but also with your heart. Turn off your phone, disconnect from the world, and collect your weekly spiritual sustenance.
