'Flowing goodness' that will continue to bring prayers behind us even if we enter the soil.
A water well you open in a dry village in Africa or Asia not only quenches thirst but changes life there. Children can go to school, agriculture can be done, diseases decrease. Our Prophet (PBUH) answered the question 'Which charity is more virtuous?' as 'Giving water'. Every drop of water coming out of that well with your name written on it will be a coolness that extinguishes your heat in the hereafter. This is the most guaranteed and fruitful investment.
Charity is not only with money. Writing a beneficial book for people, raising a student, or teaching good morals to your own child is also sadaqah jariyah. When that child grows up and does a good deed saying 'May Allah be pleased with my father/mother', a share is written for you too. In the digital age, writing a beneficial blog post, sharing a video recommending good to people can even fall into this scope. As long as the intention is to be 'beneficial'.
"Man dies, his work remains. So what will be your work? A plaza floor, a luxury car, or a fountain flowing in a thirsty village? In Islamic belief, death is not an end, just a change of venue. However, there is a formula for the 'book of deeds' not to close: Sadaqah Jariyah. That is, goodness that does not stop, continues to flow. Come, let's remember that we came to this world not just to consume, but to leave an indelible mark."
Planting a tree, giving a scholarship to a student, putting a brick in the construction of a mosque... These are investments that seem small but whose effect can last until the apocalypse. While you lie in your grave, the reward of a traveler resting in the shade of that tree or a bird drinking water from that fountain continues to reach you. The greatest wisdom is to give the temporary and buy the permanent. Ask yourself this question today: 'Who will do what good on my behalf after I die?' If you have no answer, it is time to act immediately.
