Tunisia & Carthage Tour

Meet at the International Departures Terminal of Istanbul's New Airport. After completing passport and customs procedures, depart for Tunis. Arrive at Tunis Carthage Airport and settle into our waiting vehicle, then depart for the ancient city of Carthage. Founded by the Phoenicians, Carthage is a vast archaeological site located on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Tunis and the surrounding plain. After visiting this ancient site on our itinerary, we begin our Tunis city tour. After visiting the old city of Tunis Medina, Bab El Bahar, Zeytuna Mosque, Yusuf Day Mosque, the house where Ibn Khaldun (1332 - 1406) was born, the famous historian, sociologist, philosopher, politician and statesman, who had a profound impact on later generations with his unique ideas and methods in the Muqaddimah, one of the most original works in the history of Islamic and even world thought, the Ukba Mosque where he received his primary education, and the Türbet-ul Bey tombs of the Ottoman lords in Tunisia. After visiting the modern face of the city, French Street and Habib Bourguiba Street, we depart for Hammamet, the touristic center of Tunisia. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Kairouan, one of the oldest cities of Islam, founded by Ukba ibn Nafi. Kairouan is the first city to meet Islam in North Africa and the first point of arrival of Islam on the African continent. In this ancient historical city, where the first mosque was built and the first call to prayer was recited, we visit the Aglabit Pools, the tomb of Sahabe Abu Zam'a al-Balawi, the Ukba Mosque and the Barutta Well. After seeing the magnificent 3rd-century amphitheater in the city of Al-Jam, we depart for Susa, located on the Gulf of Hammamet on the Mediterranean coast and also a traditional center for olive oil and textiles. The Medina of Sousse was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 for preserving its cultural and historical values from modern development. A stroll through the narrow, labyrinthine streets of Susa fascinates visitors with its centuries-old architecture. After visiting Port El Kantaoui, the port district designed as a white and blue Tunisian-style village with the Susa Mosque, Castle, and cobblestone streets, we return to Hammamet. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the city of Mahdia. On our city tour of Mehdia, the Ottoman flagship city on the Mediterranean coast, we will visit the Burju'l-Kebîr Ottoman Castle, built in 1595 and the largest of the Ottoman structures, the old city Medina, the city's symbol, the Great Mosque of Mahdiyya, built in 916 during the Fatimid period, and Skifa Kahla, the entrance gate to the old city. After completing our visit to Mahdia, depart for the historic city of Monastir, located on the coast of Tunisia. One of the most important structures in the city, located on the Mediterranean coast, is the Ribati of Monastir. The Ribati of Monastir is a large castle complex rising on the seashore. One of the oldest and best-preserved castles in Tunisia, built for defensive purposes in the Middle Ages and over time transformed into a historical structure and has become an important tourist attraction today. Afterwards, we will visit the Mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba and return to Hamamet. With its pristine white beaches interspersed with a deep blue sea, magnificent gardens, archaeological sites, museums, and the scent of jasmine that permeates the city, Hamamet draws us in. After touring the Medina, we return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Nabeul. This city's most distinctive feature is its magnificent ceramic and tile production, along with its pottery workshops and shops. After visiting the old city of Medina, depart for the Bardo Mosaic Museum in Tunis. Founded on May 7, 1888, the museum's collection is one of the most important in the Mediterranean region and the second largest in Africa after the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. With hundreds of magnificent mosaics, large and small, spread across dozens of halls, the Bardo Museum more than deserves the title of "the world's largest mosaic museum." After visiting the museum, we depart for Sidi Bou Said, known for its cobblestone streets and blue-and-white houses. Sidi Bou Said, a charming town nestled on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean, is home to frescoed cafes, Tunisian restaurants, and small art galleries. After a stroll through its mystical, authentic, and fairytale-like streets, we depart for the airport. After checking in with your luggage and tickets, your flight to Istanbul will begin.
